Ashton Sims joined St. Martin’s in August of 2024, after his Curacy at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge TN. A graduate of Sewanee’s School of Theology in 2017, Ashton completed a chaplain residency program at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He worked primarily in oncology, medical critical care, and the trauma surgery ICU. Afterward he worked as a nursing assistant and then health unit coordinator on UT’s neurosurgery unit. Ashton celebrated his Ordination to the Sacred Order of Priest in May 2022.

Ashton’s particular interests of ministry are preaching and teaching, reconnecting people to the riches of Sacred Scripture and Tradition, encouraging others to grow in knowledge and love of God, reminding the Church that its ministry is both within and beyond its four walls; creating space for, and engaging with, young adults; and fostering the practice of spiritual disciplines, which serve to create a more holistic sense of Christian identity.

Originally from North Alabama, Ashton is happily married to his wonderful wife, Anna Davis, and their home life revolves around their precious pets, Thecla the cat, and Pip the dog. He is a fan of both Alabama Football (but nowhere near Anna’s level) and the Premier League’s Arsenal F.C. In his free time, Ashton enjoys reading, camping, Dungeons and Dragons, and exploring the Criterion Collection.
