When you look at St. Martin's parish, you will find that we come from many different backgrounds: Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian. You name it, you will probably find it. Our unity lies in our appreciation of the tradition and heritage of the Episcopal church and that we have found a church home where our doubts and questions are not ridiculed. Where we are allowed to grow in our relationship with God and with one another, and where we are reminded that God's saving grace is eternally evident in our own lives.
St. Martin's is a diverse parish. We come from an assortment of surroundings, geographic roots, and socio-economic conditions. Our church family includes newborn babies to retired senior citizens, teenagers and baby boomers, young families and empty-nesters. We are professors and sales people, doctors and lawyers, CEO's and laborers. We are single and married, divorced and widowed. We embrace our differences and come together as GOD'S children.
If you wish to join the membership of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, please let us know by calling our office (423) 892-9131. If you are coming to us from a church other than an Episcopal or a Roman Catholic church, it is appropriate that you receive the sacrament of Confirmation, which is the laying on of hands by our bishop at his annual visitation. If you are Roman Catholic, you may be "received" by the Bishop at the same service into this branch of One Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. All Baptized persons, regardless of church of origin or with no church at all are invited to participate in the sacraments and activities of St. Martin's.
